Today’s Top Three

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

1: Noelle in her sartorial splendor as a copper fountain at the Sidewalk Art Fest. It isn’t the most practical outfit, but I think she probably collected a few pennies by the end of the day (and her arms must be pretty tired!)

2: Liz Phair. Someone called to invite us to a Cinco de Mayo party (I can’t believe it is almost May already!), which got me singing the song from Whip Smart. While cleaning and cooking, and wiring we listened to Whip Smart and Exile in Guyville, loudly, as they are meant to be done. Thanks, Liz.

3: Summer veggies. I know it isn’t summer yet, but I bought some corn and tomatoes today. They are far from the top of their game, but they smell so divine.. and then with fresh basil from the deck…yum.

Finished: cigarette

Friday, April 27th, 2007

I finally finished my cigarette! Now, I only have the rest of the pack to go!

I had a dream last night that I was chain smoking. I don’t know if was influenced by this 2 foot long foam cigarette, or the sight of Grace Kelly smoking cigarettes in “Rear Window” and all I could think of was how bad they would make her beautiful dresses stink!

Stay tuned for the whole pack.

Avocado Ranch Dip/Dressing

Friday, April 27th, 2007

For a thinner, more dressing-like consistency, add more buttermilk. For a lighter version, use lite mayo and a lower fat buttermilk

  • 1 avocado
  • 1Tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon tobasco

Process in blender or food processor, then add & process

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (or more)
  • 1/4 cup mayo
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh herb (basil and chive is a good combo)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Keeps in fridge about one week.

“Censored”

cig art 005.jpg dollars at censored

Here are my embroidered dollar bills at a First Amendment art show called “Censored.” It was a pretty interesting show, mostly to see what people said when they had the chance to say anything they wanted to celebrate their freedom of speech…

They will be seen again shortly at the Surface Design Association’s annual conference show called “Unchartered Territory,” in June; a completely different venue.

I am back, but I never went away.
