DAILY PRACTICE WORKSHOP

Your daily practice should include more than brushing your teeth and doing the dinner dishes. A daily practice is all about creating pockets of self-care within your day. You may be able to carve out big blocks of time in the morning or the evening, or you might have to work to find five minutes in the morning, ten minutes at lunch and another five minutes before bed. To start, you may only have one minute per day to devote to your self-care. That’s still good. This workshop will show you how.

Self-care is more than mani-pedi-massage and margaritas with the girls. Self-care is a personal practice to address your mind, your body and your spirit. Self-care means looking after you, putting on your oxygen mask first, prioritizing the inside you. Every. Single. Day. Not just on weekends. Not just when your polish gets chipped. Not just on a friend’s birthday. Every. Damn. Day.

There are as many daily ritual programs as there are people. Some schedules are draconian, their adherents consider anything less than a 5-mile run before sunrise a failure. Other morning practices will have you meditating in the bath. Still others have you doing yoga at dawn or deep breathing while your tea water boils. There is no right answer. There are, however, a lot of options.

This hands-on workshop will help you craft a daily practice that is most likely to work for you. We will discuss the importance of addressing a balance between mind, body and spirit and consider activities which contribute to each. I will lead you in a few short meditations so you can learn there are the four different kinds and none of them are scary while all of them are easy. This will give you an idea of what resonates with you. You will feel empowered to meditate on your own.

We will explore various practices and how they feed the growth of mind, body or spirit. We’ll brainstorm movement and motion, and what that means in a daily practice. There are more ways to move the body than running and yoga. We’ll experiment with journaling, zen drawing, smart phone photos, haikus, and other quick creative practices.

You will take a brief journey through your typical day and I will show you how to create pockets to fit your self-care rituals. You will learn how to cordon off even small portions of time. You’re the VIP of your own life, you should have special time for yourself protected by a gatekeeper and velvet ropes.

You’ll leave this workshop with a plan, feeling inspired and energized to begin your own daily practice the very next day. You will be in possession of your own mission statement and affirmations to be your own cheerleader. You’ll know how to access tools to allow your practice to evolve and change. You’ll understand the importance of forgiving yourself and starting anew when life happens and your practice falters.  You’ll leave this workshop having given yourself a gift that will allow you to grow while growing with you. A mani/pedi will only grow out.

Call or email to schedule your workshop.
