CREATIVE & TRAVEL JOURNALS
Creative journals can be anything you want them to be: art, words, images, poems, collage, doodles or any combination of above. You can add to them every day, every week, or whenever you feel inspired.
Travel journals are creative journals you take on vacation with you. They’re a great way to make your adventure time more meaningful and memorable and are best played with during little moments of your trip where you’d otherwise be tempted to scroll on your phone or watch TV.
You don’t need to be able to paint or draw. You don’t need to spend heaps of money on supplies (pro-tip: hardware store paint samples and sticky notes can be your BFF). You can even journal with drips from your coffee or tea.
Immerse yourself in your life experience by capturing adventures and shenanigans, thoughts, ideas, and feelings in your own small sketchbook. No big, intimidating pages to scare you away. Your registration fee includes a small zipper pouch filled with everything you need to get your travel journal started. I’ll provide a user-friendly sized book (that fits easily in your bag so you can carry it with you everywhere), a selection of art supplies, and a small booklet with prompts and ideas. You supply the ephemera, escapades and creative juices. We’ll start you along the path of filling your journal and recording your journeys with techniques to capture the best parts of your every day or trip. You’ll learn simple methods for creating easy but meaningful pages and spreads in your journal with over one hundred prompts and ideas.
No artistic ability required! Can you make a list? Can you draw a line? Can you make a circle? Can you rip paper? Can you open a glue stick? Then you can make a creative journal!
Once you learn how easy it is to cover page after page with narratives, sketches and mementos, you’ll be on your way to filling up your sketchbooks.

I’ve traveled all over the world for work (and fun) for over 25 years. Even before earning a Master’s Degree in Fine Art, I’d been creating journals to document my adventures sailing and cooking aboard private yachts. Even now as a shore-based land-lubber, at any given time, I have at least five sketchbooks on the go, and one in every bag. My creative journals are a fun, visual way to record the little quirks and blips of my everyday life. My best memories of any trip are the tiny moments that can’t be captured in pictures or social media posts, but with details immortalized in little doodles, collages and scrawled notes.
